Browsegate
This application allows multiple
computers on a private network (such as you may have in an office, or even at
home) to access the Internet through one machine which has a connection via a
modem, ISDN, ADSL or cable modem.
This can be achieved using Network
Address Translation, or a HTTP Proxy. The latter can control what sites are
accessed, ideal for a home with children who might otherwise gain access to
adult sites. You can exercise complete control over this, you do not have to use
an unknown list of "approved" sites.
Other facilities are:
A Firewall to protect you from
intrusion.
SOCKS server (useful for chat
applications).
DHCP server - if you don't know what
this is, you probably don't need one!
DNS server.
